Sanará Tulum, a Piece of Heaven

I kept hearing about Tulum, Mexico over and over again so my curiosity got the best of me and it was time to pack my bags. I had the beautiful opportunity to stay at one of the most serene and relaxing boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed and I didn’t want to leave…introducing Sanará Tulum, a piece of Heaven.

The minute my husband and I walked up to the reception desk, they greeted us with warm towels, fruit water and a smile. The reception and lobby is a breezy open area with warm woods and a very friendly staff. Just one step over from the reception desk and you’re walking on light, powdery sand that begins the Sanará Tulum serenity journey. Our room was located in the newly built Jungle Compound which is across the small street from the reception area. Upon opening the compound gate, you enter into a jungle oasis, with green gardens and sounds of a waterfall and a beautiful pool.

Serenity and comfort awaits in a Sanará guest room

The minute we walked into our room I immediately felt engulfed in relaxation and luxury. Natural woods and white accents surround a large king size bed, large bathroom with all natural, hand made coconut Sanará products, and an open shower with the sounds and sights of the jungle reflecting in the windows throughout the room. Our view overlooked the sparkling pool and waterfall, I really didn’t think it could get any better…

…well, it did. Meeting my friends for lunch at the Real Coconut, Sanará Tulum’s beach restaurant,  I walked through the reception area onto the soft sand. I passed their amazing yoga studio, many palm trees and from there it opens up an into an extraordinary scene where the turquoise ocean touches the white sand…a heavenly place.

Fresh fish and organic ingredients at The Real Coconut

The Real Coconut restaurant overlooks the ocean from all views. From sitting outside on their terrace to the large open windows on the inside which allows the ocean views to come in, there isn’t a bad seat. The organic menu developed by Sanará’s owner Daniella Hunter, is created with the purest sustainable ingredients, and everything coconut such as fresh fish tacos with tortillas made from real coconut flour, coconut chips, coconut cheese and coconut battered chicken bites to name just a few items. Their smoothies and fresh juices are to die for and everything you eat will make you feel better inside and out. From breakfast, lunch to dinner I could easily eat there everyday. The cocktails are even healthy and incredibly delicious.

As a Sanará hotel guest, you’ll receive a designated sun bed just for you right on the beach, which includes top notch food and drink service. Reading your favorite book or just taking a nap is the perfect beach agenda for the day. But first try one of their yoga classes.

Your Sanará sun bed is waiting for you…

Sanará has the prettiest yoga studio I’ve ever seen! A dark wood floor with huge clear windows surrounding you that overlook the ocean, you will not find a better yoga experience than this! My yoga class was very relaxing and started my morning off perfectly, then afterwards I had a Real Coconut smoothie to kick start my day of relaxing on the beach with friends.

Not only was I experiencing the most relaxing, beautiful trip at Sanará, but I was also celebrating my birthday that weekend; so I decided to indulge and have a massage the morning of my special day. The Sanará spa is very elegant, simple, and serene, and they offer all different types of services. Leo was my masseuse, a very sweet man with incredibly strong hands to loosen up my tight muscles. Hands down one of the best massages I’ve ever had! 60 minutes was not long enough and I was sad it was over but I was so relaxed, I felt as if I was floating for the rest of the day. Sanará means “you will heal” in Spanish and this is exactly how I felt.

After my massage indulgence, I treated myself to a birthday gift from their boutique. They have such unique, cute things from sandals to swimsuits to coverups. byJames is a local brand in Tulum of hand made sandals, swimwear and hats. I saw the sandals a day earlier and kept thinking I needed them (well not a need, but a want) so what’s a better excuse than a birthday gift to myself, right? I’m all about supporting local.

The night of my birthday, Sanará made me a gorgeous chocolate birthday cake and my sweet friends surprised me with it while enjoying it on one of the hotel’s terraces that overlooks the jungles of Mexico, so beautiful and memorable.

Only staying for three nights was just not enough and I long to go back. Even writing this article I’m picturing the clear turquoise water, the soft powder like sand and the serenity of a heavenly place called Sanará Tulum. I highly recommend you go, you’ll never feel more relaxed, healed and happy.
